The Firm

Practice, profile and working principles of the firm.

The practice

My office is in Palazzo Besso, in Largo di Torre Argentina, in the historic centre of Rome. I work mainly in civil law – leases, condominium, family, succession, debt recovery, liability and compensation for damage – and in tax litigation. I act for individuals, professionals, condominiums and small businesses, both in court and out of court.

Every question calls for an examination of the facts and of the documents before any assessment is made. The first meeting is devoted to establishing what has happened; any indication as to prospects, time and cost follows the examination of the actual situation, and does not precede it.

Profile

Alessandro Monteleone
Admitted to the Rome Bar since 2011. Since 2023 entitled to appear before the Italian Court of Cassation and the other superior courts.

Education

  • Degree in Law, Sapienza University of Rome, academic year 2005/2006.
  • Second-level Master’s degree in “Rights of the Person and New Technologies”, directed by Professor Stefano Rodotà at the same University, 2008.

Professional background

I trained at Studio Ripa di Meana e Associati in Rome, the firm founded by Vittorio Ripa di Meana (1927-2008), a member of the Rome Bar from 1954, who practised there in corporate, banking and competition law. I worked at the firm until it was wound up.

There I handled litigation and advisory work for companies and public bodies, and there I learned the method I still follow: examine the documents before forming any view, choose the remedy proportionate to the result sought, and take care over the drafting.

After the firm was wound up, and following a period of collaboration with MGM Studio Legale — which has offices in Rome and Milan — I began to practise on my own account, as I do today in Palazzo Besso.

Professional activity

I have been in practice since 2011, mainly in civil and tax litigation and in civil and tax enforcement proceedings. Alongside these fields I work in data protection, digital law and the protection of personality rights — matters to which I have been devoted since my years as a postgraduate — and in sports law.

I act for individuals, professionals, condominiums and businesses, as well as for public bodies and publicly owned companies, in court and out of court, in civil, commercial and tax matters, in matters of civil liability, new technologies and data protection.

Every matter is handled personally. Where a question calls for further expertise I draw on the established co-operation of other professionals.

Appointments

  • Member of the Federal Tribunal of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation.
  • Member of the “Personal Data, Security and Digital Law” Committee of the Rome Bar Association.
  • Member of the “Parentage, Fostering, Adoption and Related Legislation” Committee of the Rome Bar Association.

Method

  • Preliminary examination. Every matter begins with a reading of the documents and a meeting devoted to establishing the facts.
  • Assessment. I set out what can reasonably be achieved, with the time, risks and costs involved.
  • Written fee estimate. The fee is agreed in writing before any work begins, as the Italian professional legislation requires.
  • Information. The client is kept informed of the progress of the matter and of the choices to be made, without having to ask for news.
  • Confidentiality. Information received is treated with the rigour required by professional secrecy and by data protection law.

Professional indemnity insurance

I hold professional indemnity insurance with a limit of indemnity of 1,000,000 euro, as required by article 12 of Italian Law no. 247 of 31 December 2012.

I receive clients by appointment. A first meeting makes it possible to establish whether and how it is appropriate to proceed.
